How It Works
HowOldIsMyRoof.com gives you a rough estimate of how old your roof is and how many years it might have left — based on when your home was built, what part of Colorado you're in, and how much hail your area gets.
Where the data comes from
We use your home's year built (from county assessor records or your own input) and cross-reference it with NOAA storm event data for your ZIP code. Colorado gets hit hard by hail — Denver averages significant hail events most summers — and that shortens roof lifespans compared to the national average.
How accurate is this?
It depends. If your home was built in 2015 and the roof has never been replaced, we're probably close. If the roof was replaced at some point and there's no permit on file, we're guessing — and we'll tell you that (the "confidence" rating). You can always correct us, and those corrections help improve estimates for everyone.
What we don't do
We're not a roofing company. We don't sell roofing services. We don't inspect roofs. We built a tool that answers a question most homeowners wonder about but can't easily answer without climbing up there or calling a contractor. If you want a professional assessment after seeing your estimate, we can connect you with a vetted local contractor — but that's entirely optional.
